i got my motor yesterday and i started ripping off the emissions crap and the front end of the motor so i can replace the rear timing cover and timing belt. i took off the oil pan and it looks like the engine is brand new!!! it looks like it has less then 50,000 miles on the engine. its been sitting for around ten years. all the seals are in really good shape. i also got the engine wiring harness on. it only took 10 minutes to hook up! its got awesome compression.
all i need are my damn parts to show up, and get one last wiring harness. a new timing belt, i need to find a new oil pan since mine is crushed, and oil change and i'll be lowering into the engine bay after i rip out my 22re!
i'll post some pictures later on!!!
so far the cost.
$300 5mge w/bellhousing (worked it off at the junkyard)
$20.50 computer and wiring harness
$15 rear timing cover.
$25 timing belt
does anyone know anything about the w58 tranny? is it stronger then the w56 and is it possible to convert the w58 to accept my transfercase?
thanks
saturday i'll rip out my 22re. should take 2 or three hours. i have to take out my roll cage so i can work on the wiring!
