MY new plans, advice and pictures wanted

Hey Guys,
Starting my new project here this friday i have a extended cab sitting in my yard....i have my 85 standart cab i bet as you are guessing by now i want the exteded cab on my truck! i have heard of this many times i would LOVE to see some pictures of this set up im planing to bob the bed 14 in the front and 10 at the back to where i then have a 4 foot bed, will this look decent?
I know i have to add a extra cab mount later on and i will, what else will i need to do this conversion? ive got most of this all planed out and its going to be cherrry i have 2 pair of doors.... all kinda of extra parts now so im very excited im going to be running around 7inches of lift.....i just cant picture how it will turn out yet but i hope it looks good i would really love some pictures and or some advice thanks alot guys!

i cant help ya with the swap of cabs as far as i have nvr done it. but i would like to see some pics of this as well


for ur info, and i might be way off on this. the wheel base of the ext cab is 115 and ur singl cab is 105. so really ur rear wheel well wont be off as much as u think maybe 5 inches.


if it were me id cut my front part of my wheel well out to match teh tire especialy if ur doing 7 inches of list. if u move ur axle forward a few inches with ur leafes that would help as well but the 115 wheel base is killer for rockcrawling .

is this a dd or rockcrawler?
what lift u planning on running skyjacker makes a 7 inch lift.

also u can go $$$$$ and get alcans with a 2 inch body lift or what not


but the best idea i got is move ur front axle forward 2 inches and leave ur rear where it is and cut ur wheel well out in thr front about 3 inches so its like a long u upside down

nvr done it before, and i dont got the trucks in front of me but im very interested and would like to see it and wheel with it


WAIT. duhh ur putting the ext cab on a standard frame i had it backwards


i would move ur rear axle as far back as i could to the frame and then cut the rear of ur wheel well out

hey man yes! i will get you pics my friend will be helping me and hes got a cam :D so i will post pics of every thing the lift is actually a 4 inch skyjacker and a 3 body i have to go with a body lift because the cross member will hit the frame if i dont

White Trash, thanks man those are exactly what i am looking for i have the second truck you sent me with out a bed but only all finish but for some damn reason it wont let me upload it onto the site it says its to big.... but that is what im going for, today we are sanding and priming the cab for primer i will try and get some pictures but nothing to to special yet, Do you have any more pics of "vovas" truck? i really like that look do you know how i could get ahold of this guy? it doesnt look like he bobbed the front of his bed 14inches at all and thats what i was told i had to cut to make the bed fit....i love to have a bit longer of a bed tho

Vova is on Pirate's BB most of the time. I would try searching pirates I know the info is there, Ive seen it. Im real sure that you have to cut 9 inches out of the front of the bed. Easy way to find out is to measure from the door jam to the back of the cab on both trucks. Thats the easy way ;) Good luck!

Heres another of Vova's rig. I measured my 84 x-cab its 14 1/4" door jam to back and my 84 standard cab is 5". So the 9 inch difference sounds sbout right. Have fun :yes:

White Trash, I really appericiate all your help here man, im going to go an pirate and start looking for this vova guy do you know if that is a 2wd cab? i really like that set up ill be starting on mine in about 2 hours :D i wonder how much lift he is running? ill have about 7

He grafted the xtra cab on to his reg cab..... keeping the firewall and all the eletctrics in place from the reg cab. His might not be the best to use for reasearch?

hey guys,
we are workin on it as we speak we have been sanding and priming in about 3 hours we will pull the cab off my std cab (and bed) then start putting everything back togather and lift it, we are getting pictures as we speak and will post them up later thanks for all the help guys, does anyone have any tires? he has some bald assed buckshots that wont get him anywhere! so let us know....thanks alot guys

hey guys we actually stayed out late last night and made some progress, cut the bed mounts off and added the body to the frame i am Very surprized how everything is just bolting into place with no problems! we are currently putting the wiring in it, i still dont know what we are going to do for a bed yet......we currently do not have a welder handy....so we might have to wait that one out, im very happy with the looks of this conversion and how amazingly easy it is going will post a crap load of pics up here in about a day :D thanks guys

Hey guys, im the guy that is supposed to get the pics around for him, we will have the pics up soon, at the earliest tomorrow(tuesday) hopefully. but the build went smooth, some late nights, and early morning helped. i was able to work on my toy while he worked on his and we got alot done on both toys. it was alot of fun but alot of work. at the end, we wheeled both rigs a lil bit, the xtra cab goes great, and looks great. pics will be up soon to show u that it really looks great. :beer: :Rockonman :Thumbsup:

hey dude u forgot to mention that the weekend before, we did a complete motor,and wiring swap in one night. Two 15 year olds and a 16 year old that helped out. not bad ehh?
