run as thick as you can and still get balanced. if the truck is a DD if not run .250 wall :D

Mine is the Metric equivelent of 3/8 wall DOM. I paid like $80 for 30 or so inches of Tube and built it myself.

80?! i was thinking 10. is there a reason so much? and isn't 1/4" pretty good?

I can't remember how thick my .....is..... Its from Hi Angle, if I recall 1/4 is way too thick for a "DD" to be balanced... 3/16? mabey?

Thats alot of weight to be spinning around at highway speeds anything 1/4 and thicker

My front is square and weights a ton

yeah, front is a whole different issue. i am thinking of making one from tractor stuff? i will play with it.

i think i will go roughly 1/4" wall, i will be lucky if this beast goes down the road at all. no way it will dd

so should i be buying sch 40 or 80 or a certain dom? i don't know metal stuff well. i will ask some mech eng majors here on campus.

I think that 40 would better than the 80 as its "thinner"

I'm sure it "won't" be an issue but I wonder if DOM would be better as the "seam" is stronger??

I bet by the time the seam would fail the muffler bearings would be shot anyways so its all moot :kidding:

I'm doing the same thing. I originally thought that .250 or .220 would be really heavy. But, I changed my mind after I did some measuring. I need 26" of tubing for my driveshaft (about a 48" driveshaft). .220" wall stuff is about 4-5 lbs heavier per foot than stock stuff, so roughly 10 lbs added to the driveshaft. Stock shaft weighs 23lbs (with CV), so it's less than 50% increase in weight. I think I'm going with .220". I drive on the road quite a bit, although my 'Yoter isn't a DD.

I change my muffler bearing at every 25 000 miles, I don't want to be stranded on the road because of that damn part!!
