Im about to swap an IFS box onto my 85 for my Marlin high steer, will I be able to use my stock steering rod from the steering wheel to the box, or fabricate one?

I think what he is asking is if he will have to extend the length of the shaft to reach the IFS box if he moves it fwd at all. I will be adding a IFS here soon also when I install the OTT crossover. Whatever I run into I was just planning on fabbing up what I need.

Yes, use the original steering shaft. If it seems a little short loosen up the bolt that clamps it in the firewall u-joint and slide it out a little. If it's still too short to adjust this way, pull it out and drive the 2 pins out, slide the shaft apart more, drill new holes and repin.

Thats what I was wondering, thanks fourwd.
I didn't know you could adjust it that way. DOH! My '85 one was too short, so I just used the IFS one, and shortened it about 3/4" (cut off some of the splined area). Fit perfect.
