hello
I did the rear disc conversion. I used '91 chevy 1/2 ton rotor "1 thick. I used 1985 eldorado rear calipers. My pads are loose in the calipers. I turned up prop. valve. still no luck, when i squeeze the brakes barely touches rotor, any help in this area would be awesome, the more specific the better
thank you again

did you upgrade the master cylinder? I understand that if you don't, the original one will not move enough fluid for this upgrade(rear disks) go to the 95 landcruser m/c. That's probably your problem. I studied the rear disk upgrade quite a bit and they specified the m/c upgrade for the reason you specified. hope this helps

the brakes are adjusted by the emergency cables
they should ratchet out to the rotors. try pumping the brakes as well
there is a valve that you can buy called a residual check valve that holds pressure on the lines to keep the brakes out near the rotors or even touching them.

On the rear disc brake conversion, you have to take the parking brake lever off to allow the adjustment of the piston since they are threaded.

You need to cycle the parking brake lever. Just do your self a favor, pull those calipers, get the 'carlo calipers, and run with it. When inspection time comes around, swap the old caddy calipers in. Thats what I did when I had my Blazer. With the 'carlo calipers, it will put you through the windshied!!!

what brake pads did you use?i just finished the swap(exactly as yours)but used the s10 4x4 pads and find mine to be actually tight on the rotor cause i didnt pull the calipers back all the way when i rebuilt them
i also used the 89-up master from a runner(the cast iron not the aluminum one)
i added the mc to the truck before the disc and what a huge difference with just 1 part.

You shouldn't be using s-10 pads, it should be the ones for that cliper, so it depends on what caliper you used, those are the pads you should be using!
