I did the disc conversion. I used '91 chevy 1/2 ton rotor "1 thick. I used 1985 eldorado rear calipers. My pads are loose in the calipers. I turned up prop. valve. still no luck, when i squeeze the brakes barely touches rotor, any help in this area would be awesome, the more specific the better
thank you again

I think the Caddy calipers use the same type of e brake setup as the Camaro/Firebird. To push the calipers back in order to change the pads you have to turn the piston and it threads in. I don't recall ever having to thread them out to take up the extra space though after a rear brake job but this kind of sounds like what you are describing. I believe these calipers are self adjusting with the parking brake but you will probably need to get the pads to clamp down tight on the rotor first and then work the e brake lever a few times to get the adjuster to ratchet out enough to start to self adjust. If the pads are not contacting the rotor enough to stop it from turning maybe try temporarily putting some kind of shim in between so you can have an assistant hold the pedal down while you work the e brake levers on the calipers. Oh, I just had another thought, I think you can actually remove the lever from the caliper and turn the shaft in the direction to apply the park brake and this will screw in the caliper piston as well. Hope this helps you.

Sounds like your master cylinder isn't moving enough fluid. Are you still using the stock drum brake m/c. I read that you need to upgrade to a larger bore with a different residual pressure valve in the rear circuit. FJ 80 m/c is the one you need (they used 4 wheel discs;) ) There's a write up by Jay Kopycinski (is that how you spell his name?) that goes into detail about the swap. I'll see if I can find it for you.........Hans
