22re surges when idling and the brake is applied, stops as soon as you let off brake, any ideas? Thanks

what rpms are you at idle with the truck at operating temp and the brake not applied?? if its not at 750 or so you need to adjust it and that should solve the problem.

Your idle is set too high like AverysDad said. I went through the same thing when I first bought my 85 Runner 2 years ago.
Also I have heard that if one of the brake light bulbs burn out it will do this!?!?!?!?! <---- Sounds far fetched though.

Same happend with my rig...messed around with the idle and it doesnt do it any more? weird eh

its got something to do with the brakes sending a signal to the ecu when they are pressed and telling the injectors to cut out when the engines at a certain rpm.......................so if youre idle is too high it will cut fuel to the injectors and you get a surge up and down.
at least thats what i read somewhere.
