Hey guys,
i just re-installed my auto meter water temp gauge. It is the procomp edition. There are three wires that are supposed to go on the back, but i dont remember which ones they are. I have one that comes from the sending unit and i think there is supposed to be a ground. What is the last one?? Thanks, i need this really soon because i am going 4xing in a few days. thanks again,

One should be for a light(+12v),one for a ground, and one from the sending unit.

Actually, the three wires should be light, 12volt hot (+) and sender (your sendining unit is your ground)...........Hans

how would one be for the light if the light is in a different hole??

One wire would be a ground (your light bulb needs a ground to operate and it just grounds the case) another wire would be your hot (12volt +) for the actual meter and the last wire will be your sending unit which is actually a variable resister to ground (if you grounded that wire it would peg the gauge) does that make sense to you? The ground wire should be for the sole purpose of supplying the bulb with a ground unless there are two wires coming off the bulb holder, in that case the ground wire is for a built in constant voltage regulator so, the gauge reads accurately regardless of alternator output. Either way wire it (1) 12 volt + (2) ground (3)sending unit......Hans

yea, thanks...i kinda understand it now. ill go and try it and see what happens. but what i was trying to say is that the light bulb has its own wires, and then there were three prongs also. thank you, let me see if i can figure this out.
