Okay, I got my 4.7 gears in this weekend and the middle part of the case (with the main shaft) mated back to the reduction box with the 4.7 gears in it, but I have a question as far as seals go.

I was going to install the rear part of the case back on but knew I had to install a new flange seal first. I went to pull it out of the box Marlin sent me and there were like four or five bags of seals and other stuff. Keep in mind I ordered a dual case adapter and 2 front wheel bearing kits from him at the same time. I thought when tearing the case apart and putting in the 4.7s and putting it all back together (haven't messed with the dual adapter yet), that you just had to replace the rear flange seal. Is this correct? Cause in the bag with the rear seal was two regular washers, not lock washers, and in the larger bag with the seal and 2 washers, was 2 more items, a felt seal and some other type of seal.

What all do I need to replace before I finalize the 4.7 project and go onto the duals? Just the seal or is there other stuff inside that cavity that needs replaced? What about doing the duals, what all is replaced there? I got all the stuff shown on Marlin's site for the 4.7 gears in the picture, just not sure where it all goes.

As always, all help is greatly appreciated, so I can get all this sh@! back together!!

Give Marlin a call or e-mail him. He will help you figure it out. He is a very nice person.

Ok let's get this straight. you ordered seals for a solid front axle right? The felt, rubber gasket, split washer and flange are for the knuckle part. While your at it you should change the inner oil seal(sold at the dealer for a couple of bucks) That seal is the one that holds oil in the diff on the axle shaft. Also get the dust collector seal and wheel bearing seals. You might have that in your kit?

Now after that there is an oil seal for the rear companion flange in the rear of the transfercase. between dual cases you will have a paper gasket on one side and use apropriate RTV sealant for conecting the donnor case and MC07 adapter plate together.

Nah, I just ordered wheel bearing kits from Marlin, not the actual knuckle rebuild kit, I ordered that from RockLogic awhile back. So what I got was 4 wheel bearings (2 inner and 2 outer), a dual case adapter and the 4.7 gears. Then on top of all this was some seals and stuff.

For putting the rear case back together with the 4.7s before I mate the dual t-case up, what have people replaced on it? Just the rear seal at the rear output flange? I saw somewhere where I think some of the seals and one gasket that Marlin includes are for the front input flange coming from the front DS. But since you don't have to take this apart at all to do the 4.7s, most people don't mess with it. Just to make sure, putting 4.7s in, people have just replaced the rear seal at the flange most of the time?

Thanks for the help here!! :Rockonman

Oh Rescue, yeah its for an 85 solid axle, but just wheel bearings I ordered, not the knuckle rebuild kit with all the felts and stuff.
