3rd member question

I have a 84 pick up and the rear pinion is broken. I was wondering if I could use a third member from a front straight axle in the back axle?

Will it turn the right direction?

Yup. Usually front 3rd members have few miles on them, too. What a bonus!

Front and rear are the same. Why don't you get a junk yard one? Why go into trouble of dissasembling the front one, then install it in the back? After that what will you put in the front, the broken one? You wil then to fix it again!

yep,their the same.i would just find another chunk.you can find them cheap as hell on these boards...
