This is not a difficult task at all. I have done a few personally. Even a Chilton or the other basic tech book goes through the process in a fairly undertstandable description. I see no reason why you could not have the head off in a couple of hours. If your head is ok, just install it again, but I would really suggest a head job since you have it off, and of course if your rig has some miles on it. A good machine shop could have it done in a couple of days.

Some suggestions, seriously the toughest part about pulling a head is remembering where the wires go. I suggest taking some digital photos of your engine and the wires/vacuum lines before you start. If you run into a snag, hey I know a website where a bunch of Toyota 4x4 freaks could steer you in the right direction!!!:D

Good luck

One thing not to forget, the stupid little bolt in the front of the head that goes into the timing chain cover. I'm sure this little bolt has cost more than one of us a new cover. It sits right under the distributor shaft, usually in just enough oil to cover it up.

Good Luck
