'Cause I'm bored and this section needs more posts.... Well, as long as I can remember being into Cruisers, I read about the fabled FJ80 e-locker swap into 40s, 55s, and 60s. So when it finally came time for lockers, I tried to find 'em. And find 'em I did. I got some sweet deals on some e-lock diffs and the axles needed--all I needed to find was a factory full float rear axle assembly. Only problem, is they are pretty much only available in Australia. But I had a few contacts and checked into it. Needless to say, I ordered up a full float rear end waaaay back in March of 2003. There were months of all sorts of hold ups and crap or something, but thanks to some good plannin' and a quick road trip to Cali by a couple of crazy Cruiser dudes (no, not me, but you know 'em) and my full float rear end was home just in tme for some leftover turkey sandwhiches. :D Anyway, I went to work on it as soon as time permitted. Finishing up the semester took most of my time for the few couple weeks after that... Anyway, here's some pics. Mine's the one wrapped in plastic--it was super dirty and greasy...

Droppin' it in... One thing to note about droppin' in the diff. Some people grind a bit of the axle housing out at the area where the lock fork is--we didn't. But, when we were dropping this one in, it was giving us some trouble right at that area--it was TIGHT. From now on, I am recommending atleast a bit of grinding there. You use the diff lock specific gasket and you can trace what you need to grind. Also, though this was the rear FF, I remember we had a bit of trouble with the front as well.

Looking good!, I did a similar build up on my FJ40, I put on a set of Warn FF shafts and hubs, I know you can get the same thing out of Oz but were the axles you built 80's or 40's with the e-locker? Looks nice just the same:Rockonman
I wasnt going to ask if they were 80's...But my new rig is still on a truck SOMEWHERE as we speak:angryfire

Niether. They're 60 axles...came from an HJ60 outta Oz. The elock diffs are from an 80 though. I just finished a little write-up if ya feel like checkin' it out... Toyota 80 Series Electric Locking Differentials Retrofit for an FJ60 (http://www.burgoyne.com/pages/ferguson/elock1.htm)
