If I were you I'd find a Toyota axle just because the diff is smaller giving you more clearance.

if your going to go through all the trouble of putting those wide alxes in you might as well put in 3/4T dont you think???

i used a half ton axle. the main reason was width. also if i wanted to go 3/4 ton all i need are 8 lug outers off any 3/4 ton. Are you goin to keep them full width or cut them down at all. if u keep them full width u are goin to need to use a wider spring hanger than toyota cuz the spring perches are 31.5 center to center this also means u need to out board the springs from the frame at the shackle. I narrowed my dana 44 4 inches on the long side. this way it uses a jeep waggoneer long shaft and the stock chevy short shaft. It also put my springs at 27.5 which is narrower that toyota and let me put the shackle under the frame. if you have any questions PM me and ill help ya out.

toyota axles are as strong or stronger than 1/2 ton axles plus toyota third members switch front to back plus they are lighter than the cast axles. buy the way their is a hell of a set of axles on the for sell board on this web
