Rust!

Hello All,
Just a question concerning rust repair. I have an 89 Toyota 4Runner that I picked up for 500 bucks. The only problem is rust. The tailgate is TOAST and the rear wheel wells have about two inches of rust from the edge up. How can this be fixed?

Sawzall! Rust is a PIA, your gonna have to cut out what is not salvagable and replace. You may be able to clean up whats there w/ some petrolium jelly and get lucky. Most times I have seen people just replace the entire bed.

If your wanting to keep the truck stock bodied i`d suggest getting a spot sand blaster and clean the corrosion out of it to see what damage is actually there,from that point you can actually repair it a number of different ways 1 sheet metal fab what you need or 2 fiber glass it back in if you have like gaping holes you might consider a bed change or like flecker said cut it all out .:eek:
guess it all depends on your plans for your machine :rolleyes:
post some picks so we can get abetter idea of the damage I`m sure you`d get better suggestions that way ;)
