Are Revolver shackles ok? I was thinking about doing buggy springs but I was pretty well talked out of it, but I allready ordered a sky shock hoop. So, I figure I better do something. Whats good? I've already got 5in skyjacker springs, so I'm not buying new springs.

I think the revolvers suck. They just open up when you are trying to climb something, causing your rear end to lift up.

I just went through this discussion during my lift upgrade. On one hand the shackles will open up and give you more drop, looks great. But does it really help? My thought is if it helps maintain wheel contact with obsticle it can't be bad. The other side of the discussion went. If the truck falls on the open side and you think your on the ground. Your going to get serious pucker factor for the sudden drop before the spring starts to work. I purchased mine because I've seen them work really well on another Toyota. Plus they were slightly used so I got them at a good price. For me it boiled down to "go with what you think will work for you".
I'm still waiting for my front driveline and then some time to mess around. Before the upgrade I had Superlift springs in the rear (from the previous owner) and IFS. Neither of which allowed for flex so the Revolvers didn't really get a chance to work even though I went up and over the Rubicon with it. Now with AP 5" springs in all for corners I'm gettin all sorts of flex and dying to go play.
I know I didn't get all technical but I hope that helps a bit.

Basically I'm looking for more flex for cheap. Any ideas? Are the buggy springs a bad idea altogether?

Cheep flex? How about chevys?
Here is a good shot of revolvers with chevys. Not bad flex IMO

if you run the revolvers all you have to do is run a center limiting strap and you will get the benifits of both worlds awsome flex and up hills or jumping or anything else they wont open up this setup works a lot better then the buggys how ever i have not run the bugys everyone i know who has or did stoped because they know became very tipsy and unstable!

ROCKRUNNER, i can hardly even comprehend your post.
Both buggies and revolvers/double shackles can and will unload on a sidehill. Usually the rapid unloading of the shackle will scare you enough to take them off the next day, since it can result in a roll.

The revolvers dont open up all the way when you have a lifted spring spring set. due to the packs wanting to fan out, they then bind up when trying to open up. Now if you have an orbit eye spring and use revolvers which i ran for 1.5 years had no issues only because of the orbit eyes. Now if you would go with those johnny joint shackle mounts from all pro it again allows a twist movement to help ease up the spring fanning and bind up. I know several people that were anti revolver until they put the johhny jointed mounts on and the revolvers. Now they swear by em hopped this helped some.

I see how that would keep things from opening up but when you do buggies or revolvers you get more down travel than up. There for, the point of pivot is not the center, the point of pivot is towards the high side and changes as each end go up and down in varying amounts. And as such the strap thing would have to be able to slide back and forth. Not only that but it would have to be engineered so that it would slide to the high side but still be tight. To do that you would have to have a curved rod on the axel and a straight between the frame with a wheel attached so they could roll back and forth. To have these so they would roll smoothly would be very difficult. You could although, just have the strap (in a fixed location) a little loose when it’s just sitting, allowing for the necessary play to have good drop. This would not hold it all the way down on even ground.
