I've got a 81' PU with a basically stock 22r, which needs a new radiator. Any suggestions on a quality brand which might sell for less that the dealer's $450? I was considering radiator.com or performance radiator. Any ideas?

Thanks, Ian

I always have bought from Performance, but a lot of that is because they have a store a few miles away from me.

So, this is the same outfit whose website is www.performanceradiator.com? Their prices were about the same as the chinese radiators from schuck's, but are supposed to be better?

Thanks, Ian

Checker or Autozone has them for around $100 or 120..

I ordered one from radiator.com, for $109 plus $9 for 2 day shipping. They claim these are the same units the dealer sells (which go for $450!!) I'll post to let you all know how it looks.

ill just throw in my $.02 as well, even after the fact.

i picked mine up at a local carquest for 136 even. this was the "heavy duty" radiator, the regular replacement was like 20 less.

As to who,'Silva' makes a decent aftermarket radiator, but try this little trick. Get a radiator from a 4x4 automatic, they are 3 core and a direct replacement, but I'm talking 'Toyota' used, most of the aftermarket ones have the fittings to use IF you have an auto, and are 2 core, but if you can find a used 4runner 4cyl factory radiator, you'll be 'styling', my 02.....Stew

Sounds like a good trick on the runner radiator. I got my rad. from radiator.com, and couldnt be happier. A real person answered the phone when i called, and it was much better made than the $155 radiator i got from schuck's and returned. 2 day shipping was only $9.
