I have a 91 toyota pickup and im planing a sas soon, im looking for lockers, im unsure about which to get. This is my daily driver, and im in the snow at least once, every weekend snowboarding. And i have heard that in snow they will pull your truck. so is a selectable the best choice? or what. Thanks

a locker in the rear isnt bad in the snow once u get used to it, it is fun. for the front ARB all the way.

i've got a quick lock in the rear of my truck and even in the snow it is not bad untill you want it to be...just be easy on the throttle

I like having a True Trac(limited slip) up front. It steers good and it won't break anything.

For an 8" application...
My list...
1. OEM E-lockers if you can find them...
2. ARB's are next best...
3. Detroit rear, Lockright/Aussie front...
4. Spool rear, LR/Aussie Front...
5. Welded F&R...

Okay, this is just my opinion and I'm sure someone will disagree with me but:rolleyes: ...........You say it's a daily driver and I assume you'll be driving it on the road to go snowboarding. If you can't afford a selectable locker ie. ARB or TRD electric (retrofited) for the front, I'd leave it open. Driving a front and rear locked truck, in 4WD, on icy roads is, in my opinion, dangerous, you'll have just about no steering control. I'm speaking from experience but, like I said, that's just my opinion.........Hans

I can agree with that... the on-road characteristics of a full-time locker can be overcome, but depending on your driving conditions and amount of road use, it would be wiser to leave it open if you can't afford the selectables.
Another factor with non-selectable lockers... don't think all that chirping tires on dry pavement doesn't accumulate to premature drivetrain breakage..... it does.
