Im thinking of putting a lockright locker in my 83 just wondering if any one could tell me if these things are very reliable I am running 39.5'' swampers and I dont want to spend the money and have it poop out. I dont want to buy a detroit cause I am cheap and about $250. Anyone out there tell me if there any good?

the brief time i used a lockright it worked fine but i only had 33's.
i think you should weld it.

I've got a friend who just put in his third in the rear end of his truck, another who is on his second in his truck, and another who has run the same one for along time. They're not too reliable.

I've been running one in my daily driver for about a year now with no problems, use of a high quality gear oil really seems to quiet down some of the ratcheting (I'm running Superior Axle and Gear's 85w-140w) also, I'd install a new cross shaft when you put it together. Make sure the case you're putting it into is in good shape and read the instructions carefully and you should be fine. You might also consider the Aussie Locker, I've been reading good things about them. www.offroadlockers.com Oh, I'm running 5.29s w/35" tires and 4.7 T/C gears and it gets wheeled fairly hard.......Hans

I have had one in my front for some years with no issues. But, I think I would caution you with running the 39.5 swampers with it!

I have the Detroit EZ and I love it. If you are puting the locker in the rear you may just want to run a spool, cuz Swampers are gonna be hard on the lock-Right.

Run an aussie. The are basically a lockright, but a much improved design.
