i have a 84 runner. i want to do cross over steering.. and was wondering if the stock box has to get replaced? or can i still use it. I know it sounds like a dumb question.. but afterall i am a newbie and it seems to me that the pitman arm has to be turned horizontal vs. vertical??

note: using 44044 springs, or all pro's w/37"+ tires.

Yup, ya gotta change it to a '86-'95 IFS box.

Yep, what Joe said! The only dumb question is the one not asked. (well sometimes at least):D

All Pro makes a kit to mount the next one and there is some welding and drilling with larger drill bits involved. Just fyi.

Thanks guys, are there any write ups on this? or any pics out there?

I figured you had to switch boxes but never saw anything talking about it on any BBS's.

Here's a link to a site with several crossover steering links showing what you need to install the IFS steering box.
