I was driving down the freeway the other day and I noticed what at first I thought was a few more bumps then usual. I realized it was my truck. It almost seemed like it was missing a gear or something. Its hard to explain. Almost like when shifting and you go one gear to high but it was really quick. It happened just a couple of seconds at a time really quick untel I slowed down to about 40. After that every time I got up to about 40 it would do it again. Then today it just went away. It hasn't acted up at all. The truck is an 85 EFI with an automatic tranny with to many miles on it. I had some work done on the front end a while back too. Does any one know what might be wrong with the truck. One other thing, I noticed the front hubs were a bit warm after I drove it around. Is this normal? Thank you to anyone who can help.

I don't think warm hubs is abnormal. The other problem could be alot of things but I personally would worry about the tranny because it sounds like how it would feel if it were slipping a bit and becuase I am, of late, losing confidence in those older autos.

I agree with both. My hubs are warm after long drives. I would consider dumping the auto trans and go for a five speed. I thouhgt they didn't put the auto in the pick-ups till 86.
