transmission id

can anyone tell me how to id toyota transmissions? is there a number plate, or ebossed someplace? HELP!:eek:

The tranny ID is in the vin # . If I could find my book I could tell you how to read the vin for all the info.

thats a good idea, but i don,t have the truck . i picked up some parts, and 2 five speed boxes w/t-cases on em were in the load.
