ive got a 7" lift on my 83 and i was fine UNTIL I SNAPPED MY DRIVESHAFT. haha, that didnt have to do with the lift, but i scared you. YES I DID. you dont need spacers unless you count on some seriouse flex. otherwise ur fine.

Why do you have 7 inches of lift?

With 5.5 inches of lift in the rear AND the rear axle moved back two inches, my rear shaft is still fine.
However, run some flexy springs in front, or even just lift it that much.. and it's time for a new driveshaft, and it better have more than 6 inches of slip if you have decent springs.
