View Full Version : anyone know a cheap but good axhaust?

my factory toyota exhaust it literally about to fall off and i would like to go with the downey exhaust but don't have the cash for it right now, so does anyone know of a muffler that will bump up power for a 22-re but not make it sound crappy?

How loud do you want it ? I bought a high flow muffer and cat from summit . I got a coulpe more horses out of my truck but it is loud . But I like pissen off the a**holes next door . I think I paid about $160 for the whole thing .

i don't want anythin obnoxiosly loud, but a decent sound without a backfire when i let off the gas

Muddy man check out exhaust"Q" under this forum there you'll find a pic of the one me and my buddy out here made from stainless pipe and a Honda sedan sports pipe it runs from the cat back and is mediocre loud the only way to describe it is it sounds like a mildly tuned Mr2 or RX-7:rolleyes: I like it cause the folks around here aren't used to seein shtick like that around here

cant go wrong with flowmasters, They were only 200$ for my yoat. If you don't want anything obnoxiouse just dont get the tip for the end.

when my exhaust wore out i got the oem from napa it bolts onto the cat . but any way before i bolted it on i dug out the cat.and left the housing in place so it looks like i still have the cat.but it flows better a little more h.p. and a little more noise can excape giveing it a littl mor noise. also drill a 1/16 hole in the bottom of youre muffler it lets youre condensation excape (youre muffler wont rot out)

dude,
1. if you ask exhaust shops/look around da net some more you will probably decide you want 2 1/4" tubing for the 22re.
2. Also think of yourself as hot gas trying to expand and rushing through an enclosed space, look at da different muffler designs, and decide which is going to let you flow the most effeciently.
