ok. SO my exhaust pipe snapped right at the manifold collector?! i would call it. Anyways. I'm lookin for some more power anyways.. so should i get a header and 2.25 exhaust back or get a cam and just weld the break? What are your thoughts? Cuz i want the engine to last as long as possible.. and changing internals i figure will effect that. Anything ideas welcome . Thanks

y not both???? well, i have both and i love it. it sounds good and has great h/p with the header and with the cam, it is a lot quicker. just go to LC Engineering (http://www.lcengineering.com) . they got everything u will need from the headers to the cams. Let's say this, i have a cam in mine, and it's sooooo much quicker. it so quick that it goes from 3,000 rpm to 4,000 rpm in not even 1 sec. Well, i have a lot of other mods too, and i guess the gearing for 35 with my 33's doesnt help either. But, if u can afford it, go with both.

i had flowmasters on my first truck and hated it, you get sick of the sound after uve been wheeling for a few hours. Just keep that in mind...

If you are on a bit of a budget, I say go for the header for now. It will fix the problem you already have while still giving you better performance. The cam will be a good upgrade but is more noticeable with the header anyway. The header can be installed quickly and you don't have to mess with the internals at all to do it. The one thing I have learned from building hot rods and wheelers is to always fix the broken stuff first, then start making it better.

awesome.. thanks everyone. i've decided to get the header first.. since i am on a budget right now. (college :( ) So Thorley huh? Never heard much about those headers being that great.. i think i heard from someone they like instantly rust or whatnot. idk. What all do you use?

Ok. so college tuition just got payed.. and i'm broke :( And i'm runnin open pipe w/ that break in the manifold.. SUCKS!!! Soo. i'll trade somebody my nice rollbar w/ lights for a header.. doesn't even have to be remotely new.. just no rust holes :D I NEED IT BAD!!! So if theres somebody nice out there. ;)

Sounds like you already made your decision, But I was going to suggest the header as well. Ultimately, like others have said, both would be (and has been) awesome.
I went with a PACESETTER header that was purchased through Summit Racing. The price is way decent and they come with the down pipe and gaskets. I referred this same header to another official member (GOTMOAB) and I believe he is quite happy with it as well.
As you may have read in my "Bulding a Toy for the Newbie" article, I too get worn down after hearing a loud engine (exhaust) all day long on the trail. I went with a Dynomax muffler that I feel is just perfect. A nice mellow aftermarket tone, but not anything you are reaching for the Tylenol for later....
Good luck.

On the Pacesetter, is it a bolt in replacement for the manifold/y pipe combo or do you need to get exhaust work done to connect the header to the stock exhaust system?

Im trying to remember if it would have bolted right up. I did my whole system when I did mine so it really didnt matter. But I know the header comes with a connecting pipe that just may bolt up to the cat flange. If not, it would be minimal for a shop to connect it. The pipe also comes with a port for the O2 sensor.
