So I decided to order a Randys R&P third member 8" for my toy, 5:29 with Yukons for $430 after the core charge, any opinions.

Ask "Fergusor" about how great a job Randys did on the 3ed he had. I know I won't ever order one from there, and I doubt very seriously that he would get another...

I bought a setup 3rd from Randy's R&P. It had a Detroit and 5.29 Yukon (US) gears. I told them on the phone that I wanted US Gear R&P and they insisted that their Yukon brand was US Gears in a different box.

I took this on faith and checked the gears when they arrived and they were US Gears, but others I've read about got Yukons that WEREN'T US Gears.

Though their service was good and I've had no problems with the diff, I wouldn't order from them again simply because I shouldn't have to wonder what I'm getting.

Great, mine will be here tuesday. I only get to wheel about once a month if I'm lucky, so I got time to try to do this one right. Meanwhile to get my fill I have a Bronco 2 with a 9" and d44 locked f&r with 4.56's....Think I'll just keep adding vehicles to the coral.:D

not a bad deal....if ya can't set them yourself then you have to do what you have to do.

The Yukon box usually means US GEAR inside......but if the customer wnats to save 50 bucks then they can get the "value brand" inside a Yukon box. Those are absolute crap. They have nobody to get mad at except themselves. I've done quite a few US GEAR set-ups and also searched the internet for US GEAR comments.....I conclude they are top notch and to find better is unlikely. http://dreamwater.com/zuk/projects.html I charge 125 a gearset for labor......I swear by solid collars also.

I've got 2 in mine, 4.88's, Detroit and Lock Right. No problems yet unless you count the leaky pinion seal.

i was told by a diff guy that if you remember that in the old wheeling mags that randy's stuff was not available in certain states this was due to certain misrepresentations. i always thought that in their old ads it was peculiar that they could'nt sell in california. i've ordered stuff from them though and they have always been good to me
