Hey guys...we gotta keep this forum alive here, we're 3 strong :)

Seriously though, I know I've been extremely busy lately....but I'd like to see if you guys want to make an effort and get together sometime for some wrenching / tech talk / BBQ & Beers / whatever floats your boat....but none of that funny stuff!!

Allright, who has the ideas?

I finally ripped my doors off last night.....cut the electrical wires for the power windows / locks and sparks went flying....hehe!! I love my truck. It was great driving it to work today with no doors....and I don't know if I'll ever get tube-doors to go on it, maybe we'll have to get together and collaboratively make an effort to use my JD2 1 3/4" bender to make some Austin-Style Tube Doors. Should be relatively easy...and I'm a badass welder, just need to save up for my TIG machine :( That might be something for us to look into though, if you two are interested....and I'm sure we could interest some other Toys in Austin; like Gary Wood, Robert Canon, John Vargus...etc. Cheap and homemade designs are the best.

Just wanted to say hi. I realize that most of the Texas chapter is in Austin. I reside in the DFW area, and would like to be part of the club. Don't know how that would work out. Anyone been to the Wheelin' Ranch in Nocona, TX? I usually go there or the trails off of Hwy 360. I just came back from CIC (carnage in clayton) competition in clayton, ok. Looking for ways to increase rear suspension travel greatly and still be streetable, any ideas?

All you have to do to join is, go here http://www.wildyoats.com/membership.htm read the requirements, send in your money and info, Johnny will get you added to the Texas roster. I will then add you to the Texas pages (http://www.rock-it-land.com/wildyoats_texas_chapter/index.html) I have set up for us Texas guys to put pics on as we get them.

Some of the requirements do not apply to the Texas chapter yet, and I don't know if you have to got to National events more than once a year. Or if you have to make more than 1 of your chapter gatherings. Maybe Johnny will jump in and answer this, but I will find out.

Now go sign up!

Max,

You gotta bender? I got some tube and some beer. We do need to get together! I don't know if Dennis posts on here or not.

Yeah...Got a JD2 with a 1 3/4" die. Getting a square tube die sometime in the hopefully near future also.

Funny thing is that I bought the bender last October...and haven't even built the stand for it yet. I was merely preparing for the cage build...but then I finished the rig and the tranny gave up on me. Finally getting around to fixing that. Anyways, if we played, I'd have to figure out how to mount the damned thing first...which shouldn't be hard.

Then we have to actually learn how to use it!!! Haha! For two competent Austin guys...we shouldn't have any problems after a couple of beers.....

Hardest part about all of this is finding time between school studying.

Hey guys,

I know I posted this before, but I'll be in texas for 6 weeks, and may even swing through Austin on my way to Wichita Falls in about a week. If you guys get a chance, I'll stop on my way through for a bit and we can BS. As far as the bender, I'm running the same setup and may even beable to lend a hand. I've built quite a few things with mine, so that shouldn't be a big deal. Currently I'm running a 1.5" die (round) and a 1" square die.

Lemme know!

Sweet Deal Corey....

When exactly are you coming into Austin? I have classes all day next Friday and Saturday...so those are kindof botched. But if it's Sunday or Saturday night....I'd be game for a get-together over some Austin Brewskies.

Yeah...I got the tranny from Tracy, haven't heard a reply from him yet in regards to my Paypal submission....so I don't know if he shipped it or not. If you get in touch with him and he hasn't shipped it, let me know and maybe (depending on which day you're coming through) we can work out a shipment for beer thing. :D BTW, thanks for the offer too....very cool.

Don't worry about the bender, I may contact you when I get it up and running....but it'll be awhile. I have almost zero time right now with school and work. BUT, when the day comes, I'll definately get in touch for some pointers!!

Max,

Ok, don't think I'm an idiot, I got Amarillo and Austin mixed up. I'll be coming through that way, but Austin isn't all that far away from Houstin which is where my mom lives, and I'll be down there a time or two, I just don't know for sure when. I'll see if I can get up with Tracy, and see what will work out best for you guys, It may be a week or two before I made it down to Austin.

(yep, I'm the dumbass...)

Corey

BTW, I'll be in Kerrville the last weekend I'm there (mid-october)

No Problems Corey....I guess Tracy can just ship the tranny, no big deal and no loss. I actually found a guy locally selling a tranny / t-case, but oh well...too little too late.

Let us know when you'll be able to make it to Austin....we'll have to all meet up.

Max

And about the Amarillo / Austin thing.....when you go through Amarillo, don't forget to go get a 62 oz. Steak at the BIG TEXAN. It's Awesome!! And if you eat it in a hour...everyone's meal is free :D
