i'm doing a SAS on my 87 truck and putting the rears in the front and bobbed the fram and i'm planning to put a flat bed on it. i've done the search but i don't think i can run the chevys in the rear with the fram bobbed to the back of the shakle mount. i'm a newbie so i don't know of anything else accept alcans springs to use.

You have many options:
Alcans are the obvious choice...
I have the Alcans with Orbit-Eyes in the rear....they are 5.5" longer than stock rear springs, but the only change is in the front mounting position. You will be required to weld on new hangers to the frame. (this can also be done with plain Alcans ordered directly from them)
National Springs (can't remember exact name, search on Pirate)
Sway-Away Coilovers :D

i bobbed my 91 to the shackle mount (16.5" from the bed) and it does suck b/c i dont think i could put much longer of a spring on now. my front hanger would be under the door if i ran 63" chevys

i first moved my front hanger on my 93 9-3/8 of an inch and ended up with a really laid back shackle angle like this

then since i needed a new rear shaft i drilled another hole in my front hanger and got a way better shackle angle. perfect in my eyes that hole is 10.75" forward of stock. that may move your rear axle forward a bit. if i ever get a pic i will post or e mail it to you. but that may not happen for a while. this is using the stock rear hanger with a single shackle

i guess you are right it would work out good and i might do it. i was just thinking i wouldnt want my front spring hanger to be real low and in the middle of my truck. and it seems like i need more than 2 feet between my springs. 51" fronts and 63" rears- 114" of spring!
but i do like the looks of your set-up. a little bit much on the shackle angle though i think. maybe ok fully loaded.

the shackle angle is way better than that pic now. its at a perfect angle with the mount 10,75" forward now. it is not as laid back as that. but still is good. someday i will buy a camera and get a pic. imo it couldn;t be any better. that pic there is 9,3/8" forward and i needed the extra 1" forward to improve the shackle angle.:D

how is your front hanger (for the rear spring) sit though, if you dont mind me asking while we hijack this thread:D . i am sure it is all helpful though right?
i am worried about my hanger being in almost the same spot my crossmember would be if i dont go through the trouble to lift the drivetrain alittle. no what i mean?

i don;t know exaclty what you mean but my front hanger for the chevies is right against the crossmember.
so i just drilled another hole in this hanger 1" forward than the previous, or just a little more. so thats the old shackle angle.
i am going to see if i can find a digital camera tonight. to get some pics.

i am just trying to say that it seems like i would be making a new low spot w/ the addition of a spring hanger 9-10 inches ahead of my current one. right now the factory hanger is right where the frame goes up and if i move it forward it will be almost dead center of my overall length. making it a great spot to get hung up on i would think.

yeah, that is like nwhat i was thinking as/after i wrote that last post. if you kept em close and smooth.... i may do it b/c i have a 2" block in the back rght now and 8 leaves (which should be down to 6 or 7 soon) but still i would rather have a little more arch and longer springs.
