1988 22re efi just rebuilt, crane cam retarded 2 degrees, 2 notches on afm, new everything in engine. Set valve clearance and timing when engine at operating temp. Problem is when engine is started hot or cold idle is perfect at 750rpm, after throttle is opened engine will not return to 750, it stays between 1200 & 1400 rpm. You can push the linkage closed and it will run at 750. It is like the engine vacuum is holding the throttle open. Its is not the accel cable or dash pot when the throttle sticks I can press the plunger in and it has no effect. Anyone have any ideas?
