I was pondering a V6 or V8 swap as well. Just pondering though.

hello ,
I too am interested in any info I can find on 4.3 swaps, like which year engines are best and the vehicle to get em from. Where can I find a wiring diagram or write -up on installing the ecu and such...I would really love to do this swap but have no-one here to help with the knowledge needed....Im looking to put one in my 88 with a 22re. Thanks, Dave

I have done pretty extensive research on this topic. From what I understand it is Not the year of the engine, but the ECU that makes the differance, I have heard that you need a computer and EGR valve from a 96,97. These did not come with the engine I purchased so no problem there. I also thought about doing a Supra swap Rob BUT I am not building a dragster. I have been talking to www.advanceadapters.com www.northwestoffroad.com Speed Seen Wiring (210)651 1895. to find out all off my info. As for all you out there that just have to keep it Toyota that's great BUT not for me. I have not done this swap as of yet so I am not the best person to ask for info. hope this helps. Blaze

Man,

I'm getting sick of this software for this forum. Seems about 90% of the time I post, it never shows up...

Anyway, I try and remember most of what I put in.

With you running a newer 4.3 you will have a few more problems than what I've ran into. The TBI setup is much easier to wire, and you will have to worry about the VSS (Speed sensor) for the 4.3. I'd almost suggest just getting a aftermarket wire harness, or send yours into a shop. Some of the shops can re-work your harness and if you send in your computer, they will be able to remove the VSS from the computer.

I'm in the process of doing my 4.3 conversion right now. So, let me know and I'll do what I can to help. I've done most of the fabrication work on my 4.3 and that includes not waisting the big bucks for somebody elses motor mounts. Mine cost me around $10 for everything to fab them up.

I was going to bring my toyota up to the meeting tomorrow, but I have another post that describes my current problem. Something about needing a engine shop...

Corey

Oh, and get this. I have a E-mail waiting in my Inbox saying there is a reply to my post.... But its not here! (Other than this one) I don't get it...

Actually I think it is the providers of the servers. We share a database with many other people, so the providers of the database are constatly doing wierd stuff, like restarting the database and other junk. I recieve an error message everytime a post does not succeed. Sorry to hear about your troubles though. I would hope it will get better.

I just think its weird that there isn't a post, but is said there was a reply. A reply to what? They didn't even post my... post!.

I've been having problems with not being able to actually find www.wildyoats.com!

Anyway, hows that 4.3 coming ;) I just dropped my head off at a shop, looks like it won't be that painful after all!
