i have a cobra 19 ultra in my truck.
i have it all wired up and hooked up to the anteanna. this thing is really annoying. when i push in the button to transpond it is bleeding through all the other speakers in my truck. it sounds just like feed back trough a microphone. and it only does this when you try to talk through it. i have it wired with the same power wire that my sterio uses and the sterio makes no noise at all. i have a pioneer cd player pioneer 300 watt amp running 6.5's and a 300 watt kenwood amp pushing my pioneer 10" woofer. also when i have the cb when the engine is running it is picking up all the engine noise. what can i do to fix this?
thanks

I just fixed the whine thing in my cb. I didn't have it grounded as good as I thought I did. Once I took the dash completely apart I was able to find my screw up. Re grounding it fixed it although while I was addressing this problem I also installed an inline filter. So I did two things at once instead of just the one to find out. I don't think using the same power wire should be a problem. But I could be wrong on this. My thought is ultimately you're using the same battery.
Anyway if you are grounded really well I would say next is to address the calibration issue of your cb to antenna. My Cobra 29 came with the stuff built in to calibrate it. If your able to calibrate and the problem still exists I would say it's time to go to a dealer and have them help you correct the problem.
Hope that helps.

all i have ever done is just ran seperate power and ground leads off the battery and havent ever had a problem with the noise. dont forget to run that coax away from your blower motor and what not. The heater will pop up on the radio if you turn it on also. :)

I had a simular problem. Cept I used my Cig lighter lead... What fixed it was a better ground, and running the ant. cable as far away from the speaker cabes as possable. For some reason if they were paralle to each other it would pick up noise and transmit through the speakers. the speaker wire acted like another antanna. So I'd seperate the two and get a better ground....

well i rewired my cb with coaxle cable to the battery. i tryed it out and it was still bleeding through the speakers. so i decided to expirement. i unhooked my antenna from the cb. i push the talk on the cb and there was no more noise. strange. so i decided to do some more expirementing. i hooked the antenna back up to the cb and unhooked the wires that were hooked to the actual anteanna. i pushed the talk button again and there was no noise.
so what do you guys think?
i'm thinking that the anteanna is a piece of crap and is somehow screwing up my sterio system. i think that if i get a decient antenna and some new coaxle cable this will solve the problem. what do you think?
the rewiring got rid of all the engine noise! :D

That could be a factor... check where the antanna cable runs, the entire path to the mount, and see if it's close to anything dealing with the stero....

Were do you have your anteanna at on the truck? On the top on the side? Is your rig open or closed?
One more thing, do you have a feed back mic or a extra speaker to hear the CB better?
Try to take the Mic as far out of the rig as you can, see if the feed back stops. IF that is the case you may need a new Mic, mine did the same thing a few years ago..
Also move your Cb around (if you can) and see if that changes anything. Find out when it starts to bleed in (like if its the CB or the mic thats doing it)
Good luck, its nice to have a working Cb on the Trail.
