You can get the Hobart 175 (minimum capable of really penetrating 1/4" plate in ONE pass) for around $550 from www.cyberweld.com

www.rockbuggysupply.com has a GREAT price on the Pro Tools model 105 bender. www.pro-tools.com

i have a lincoln weld pack 100 that i got from home depot, it has the same basic capabilities as a hobart welder, but i think mine was more around 300, not sure, it was a gift, but worth checking it out if it is cheaper.

Same capabilites as a "hobart welder"?

Well, it's good for about 1/8" steel in a single pass. A Hobart or Miller 134 is good for 3/16"... and the 175 I recommended is comfortable welding 1/4" in a single pass - so most anything on a truck (cage, frame, etc) can be done WELL, not just kinda halfass because you ran out and got yourself a 100Amp HomeDepot special... :)
