recently i walked down to my garage before school to crank my truck and noticed a nice puddle of oil sittin' under my passenger's side rear. i figured i'd broken a seal, got to school n asked some buddies of mine and they thought so as well. i just wanna be sure thats what it is before i go any further than disconnecting my break line and removing the brake drum, cause thats where i am now. if it is a broken seal its not hard to fix, right?

that sounds like axle seals, but it isn't an easy fix/ there are 2 seals on each side, 1 on the axle tube and rgey other is behind th pressedon bearing. I'm a licensed mechanic and it caused me some grief, it is almost impossible to get the bearing and retainer off with out wrecking them. if you don't have a lot of mechanical knowledge you might whant to take it to a garage, or at least take the axles to agarage to have the seal replaced, that way you can save some money by tearing it apart on your own.

my 95 has 3 seals axle tubeseal o ring and a seal behind the bearing you can make a bearing puller if you have a junk rear axle i cut an axle in half just to one side of the differential housing rite where ut starts to flare out. then i welded real heavy angle on both sides of the axle toob where it starts to flare out thease will hold the axle in the press then take a piece of 1/4 flat steel cut it roughly the same size as the retangle hole of the axle and cut a circle in it so youre axle will slide through and weld it to the retangle end of the axle tube w/ the angle iron rite under it . then slide it over yourre axle after you remove the little snap ring. bolt the axle tube to the 4 studes set the whole assembly in a press and press on the end of the axle where the splines are. now make sure you use really heavy angle and weld the shit out of it because it takes a hell of a lot of force to realese the bearing. but it works ive used mine 4 times .
