Swapping from the stock idiot sensor to the sending unit to run the gauges and this happened. Any clue on how to extract? It's pretty flush with the block and getting an EZ out in there will be tough. Very tight area there.

A no win situation; if you drill the metal shavings go in your oil galley and are distributed throughout your engine. You might get lucky with an easy out (if you can access that area) and some heat. My 22re has a plug in that same oil galley just forward of the sending unit, if your block has that extra tap you could screw the sending unit there and weld up that hole in the broken sender. GOOD LUCK

Thanks, I'm going to try and remove it by jamming a screwdriver in there and seeing if it will turn. If not (which I doubt) I can try to weld it shut, but all I have it a MIG and the bloc is cast and the rest of the sender is aluminum from waht I remember last night, will that work ??

With an EZ out you're just gonna make the problem worse than it is.
I'd be inclined to use something to plug that hole like, of all things, JB Weld. Clean it up real nice with some brake clean and fill it with the stuff. Might have to make a dam with tape to hold it in. Then use one of the other plugged holes for your sending unit. It's not like you need to hold back a lot of pressure, it should hold fine. I've seen timing covers repaired in this fashion that the chain had eaten on pretty good... (NOT my own... and I recommended strongly against it. I assured the guy that it would fail. Three years and holding...)
The other option is to do it right... find a way to drill it and re-tap, flush the oil passage with cleaner, and put in your sender. To do this you may have to pull the engine or jack it up a little, but then you know it's right and you'll feel good about it, and you'll have peace of mind.

I'm seriously considering pulling the enigine some weekend and doing it right. There really is no way to get in there to apply enough force to do any good. Just my luck. If I would have decided to do this WHILE THERE WAS NO CAB/FRONT CLIP I WOULD BE HAPPY AS A BEARDED CLAM! :D

If you're going to use another unused port for the sender, wouldn't it be easier to plug the hole in the broken-off sender with a self-tapping screw or the like? It's aluminum so it should be easy and relatively shaving free.

Might be, but Iwant to give it a good effort to remove it and either plug or install the sender I need there. I'm just that way.

Okay, no luck at all with this gem of a deal. EZ, nope. I do have the plugged port in front of the this one I could use BUT the damn motor mount is right ther and the sender will not fit between the mount (sorry, forgot to get a pic) I might try to plug this mess up, and then grind away at the mount until it does fit in there, or make a custom one. I need to install my Rocstomper poly mounts anyway. What a mess.
