Jesting @ J**P is all in fun, and I'm not knocking most built J**Ps ability to wheel. Hell, I learned to drive stick in a 3spd CJ-5, and also to wheel in that same vehicle, but we did have an 85 4Runner when I was born until the time I turned 9 (I am 17 now), and I cried when we had to trade it in for a Suburban. I really wanted my dad to give me that truck, because I knew the 4Wheeling capabilities even back then. Its not that I dont like J**Ps, Id just rather have a Toyota, for this reason.
My buddy has an 86 22R w/ 4.88s, 33's and a rear locker. He got stuck in the mud covering his tires. My STOCK 81 pulled him halfway to safety, and could not get it any further. We enlisted the help of a friend w/ a Built 53' flatfender J**P, F/R lockers, re-geared, Buick engine, lift, tires and clearance up the Ying-yang. He parks on level ground, I wade up to my thighs in mud and hook the winch upto my buddies truck to pull him out. He gets out, and J**P guy decides to "show us how it is done". The mud is barely upto the bottom of his rims when he gets stuck and can't move. As he is sitting there red-faced and cursing his J**P, he guns it and *POPCRACKBANG* breaks his front axle. He now only has 2wheel drive. He cant hook his winch to anything to pull him out because there are no trees around, and his ass end is facing the only useable way out. Enter my stock 81 w/ a tow chain. I hook to his rear d-rings and drag him out in about 30 seconds. J**P guy thanks me and limps home, front axle and pride the only things hurt.
Hope you enjoyed my tale of J**Per mental-lapse syndrome.
All jokes aside we still like you J**P guys, no matter how much we rag on you. Wheeling is an activity that brings friends and families together no matter what kind of rig they drive. I hope everyone has fun, and keeps wheeling!
