what if I cut the front of the frame with the solid axle and weld that part to where the IFS part of my frame was. Would this hold up? It seems like if it would then it would save some tiem and money.

I don't see any reason why not, however definetly not the way I would go. I think by the time you removed everything from the front of the frames, cut and spliced em you could have easily done an SAS on your IFS frame. Just seems like a lot more work to me.

i have considered that option before also. the only benefit i can think of is the bumped up area in the straight axle frame. but with an sas you can lower your mounts, put your everything anywhere! etc

It may sound like a good idea, but you would wast lots more time cutting both and putting together. Wacking out the IFS isnt a hard project at all.Not to bburst your bubble i think any way you try to "cut and splice it", it's not a way of choice. you have factors of getting it exactly straight and as robrocketanski said you can put anything anywhere after the IFS is gone.
