How much lift till...

I am planning on lifting my 85 4runner 3.5-4". My question is, will I have to worry about upgradeing my steering. like hy-steer?

I have a 3 in lift with stock steering and it works fine, if you cant afford hysteer you could get a drop draglink if you need too for about 100 dollars.

I have about a 4-5" lift and I am running a dropped draglink. I am hoping to go to crossover soon because a dropped draglink is NOT the safest option out there.

I can still steer, although I have about 1/4 turn (at least) of slack in my steering. I also found that after a few years my dropped draglink decided to loosen on its own. For a while I was driving around (without my knowledge) with the draglink on the verge of falling off. :eek:

I suggest that if you don't currently have they money for crossover, purchase a dropped draglink, but don't consider it a permanent fix. Save up and buy crossover as soon as you can! You should be ok with between 2"-4.5" of lift.

i have about 3 inches of lift and have hysteer. its a tight fit but well worth it.
