thought I read somewhere that if I stored it laying flat it would be ruined...any truth to this?
I put an electric fan on and don't like it (cheapo from pep boys) so I want to go back to mechanical...

You can store your fan clutch flat just make sure the front is laying flat, if the part that bolts to the water pump is faced down the viscous fluid can leak out the seal, If theres no sign of any leak it should be fine.

I'd be all over the black magic fan, but I have a 22RTE and the black magic won't fit with a 3 core radiator...
I went on a trail ride over the weekend and my junk got a little hot on 2 different occasions and hopefully going back to the mechanical fan with a proper OEM shroud will solve that problem

Ford v-6 tarus electric fan is the way to go.... 2 speeds, built in shroud, easily trimmed to fit. 20 bucks at a yard. Itll suck your shirt off if ya get too close. I got one on a 2 core al rad in my truck witha 383 chevy behind it and it keeps it at 160 degrees with no problem.

I work at a for d dealership, and all those fan clutchs are store flat with the part thats mounts to the water pump facing up, and the box has a big label saying this side up and store flat. I have seen fans stored the wrong way start to leak after a couple of days.
Thanks for the tip on the taurus fans, I should be able to get one of them easy enough.
