Alright, I have finally compiled all the parts, built my dream front axle, and am ready to get going on my SAS. If there is anybody out there that has done this and has words of infinite wisdom I'll take 'em.

Also, if anybody is interested in some of the parts from the IFS let me know, otherwise I am just going to start hacking at it with a sawzall to remove. Truck is stock '87.

Allpro offroad has some pretty good pics and instructions on their site.

Yeah. Wear protective eye wear. You dont wanna be blind through the last part of your buildup.

I feel like there is a story behind this we need to hear? Junk in your eyes from the tear down? Forget to wear a welding mask?

So I would like to try and get my front driveshaft lengthened before I get the swap done for logistical reasons. I've found a shop that will lengthen the driveshaft to whatever length I want, but am not sure how long I am going to want it. I am doing the swap with 2.5 in lifted OME leaf springs...anybody have any idea how long I am going to want the driveshaft?

i would save the hubs and CV shafts. and probably get $50 for the hubs and another $50 for the set of shafts. make a little bit of your money back anyway. sell the diff. too.

Good to know that the cv shafts and the diff would sell...I'd never buy them, but I guess there are people who like the IFS.

well people that have ADD or auto hubs and want maunal's, and yea people who are still wheelin the shit outta the IFS and break CV's. the diff. might be a different story, but ive seen them sell to. you planning on fabbing this all up outta scratch? or you got a kit?

I've sort of pieced together a kit. I rolled my '84 real good (as in 8 times down the side of a mountain) so I built the axle off that and am putting it on an '87 that I bought. I'll be using the 2.5 in OME springs I had on the '84, along with brake lines and misc. stuff like that. I bought the front hanger and tubes for it...hopefully it will all work out. My biggest concern is that I am on an abbreviated timeline for actually getting the work done.
