I traded my JD2 Model 3 bender for this rig. It's a 1980 with 4 speed.

The engine is from an '87 Toyota and the head has been ported and polished with Jeep 4.0 valves fitted into it. It has a Comp Cams 280 dgree camshaft. The block was bored and has TRW forged pistons.

Now to the good part...

4 link rear suspension! I think I will move the lower arms to the top of the axle. Right now they are attatched to the lower part and I get hung up if I don't have enough momentum to "slide" over big obstacles. The lowers are beefy as hell with plate steel for added support.

The spring location is different, but I think it helps in the flex department. The springs are from a 1974 Bronco.

I have less than $750.00 into it. The rig seems to run good. Tons of power.:redspotda

The bender sat for 8 months, untouched. I've had more fun with the truck in the 3 days I have owned it.

Yeah. I cut some more crap off the back end, 17" off the frame, fabbed a spare tire carrier and license plate bracket.

I got some stock TJ springs and was thinking of mounting them on the rear axles where the spring perches are. Any suggestions? It has some cut down Bronco springs in it now. I'm not sure if I like the location.

did it come with those trailing arms? they seem pretty slick. I know they're not factory; I meant when you traded for it. Better articulation than leaf springs?

It was all set up. I have not added anything, just removed a lot of excess tubing.

The way it's setup now, I can barely it feel when I run a 24" log over with one rear tire. It feels like a speed bump.
