Today when I got into mu truck and started to leave the parking lot my truck started to jerk and then quit on me! I tried to started up, but it would not crank over. I had tried that for about 5 minutes until I had my buddy go inside and try to start it up for me. I then took the air filer cover off my 22r and held the plate down that closed when my buddy pushed the gas pedal, he then let go of the gas pedal and he tried to crank it over, after holding the ignition key down for about 10 seconds it cranked but he had to hold the gas pedal down to keep it running. I Switched divers with him and then started to drive home, it quit om once but got it to start up, by the time I made it home it was running fine, and that was about a 10 mile ride. When I made it home I tried to start it a couple times and it did just fine. Is their anything wrong with my truck thatI need to replace so that this wont happen to me?

well, the fact that it would not crank over is verry interesting, electrical issues? maybe you have cerroded battery cable going the starter, and that caused the injectors and ignitioin to malfunction. id check your positive batt cable and other wires to make shore nothing touched the frame and shorted out. thats kindof what it sounds like to me.

Wait. when you say crank over, are you referring to the engine starting up, or are you referring to the ignition turning it over/trying to start the engine? If the ignition wasn't turning over at all, then the first thing I think you should look at is your alternator and battery. If the ignition was turning over, and the engine wasn't starting then I think you should assess how old your fuel filter is and clean out your fuel system altogether. Check to make sure the choke/float isn't sticking on the carburetor as well (That's my two cents for what you've described).

I'll run if you keep giving it gas? There's an electric anti-diesel solenoid that cuts fuel to the idle circuit to keep it from dieseling (duh!) when you shut it off. It might be gummed up or check the wiring to it---------Hans
