Yes, I did use the 'search' option... but no luck. Here's what I have:
79 truck 20R clutch and flywheel, 87 22RE and trans+T-case from a 4runner.
The question: Will the 20R clutch/f-wheel match up to the 87 22RE or...
Do I need to get a clutch and f-wheel from an 87?
Just for reference this is going in the 79 pickup, hopefully. Also, how about that 22RE oil pan's sump? Looks like it may hit the axle, do I need to hunt for a front sump pan+pick up tube? If there is such a thing?
Thanks
Dan

Get the correct clutch and flywheel for the year/model engine and tranny you're running. The 22RE's is larger to handle the increased HP over the 20R.

The 22R in my 84 has the sump in the front of the pan. I don't remember if they changed it on the 86+ IFS trucks.

thanks, I'll have to poke around to find another pan I guess. Although the other day I did spy an 85? 4Runner that also has a rear sump but had a solid axle swap. So maybe I'll be okay? I hope... or a little body lift action? Hm...

I had an 86 back in 92 and I have a 89 now that used to have IFS and both had rear sump pans. I never looked at a buddies 85 oilpan so I'll ask him in the morning.
