today i picked up some sweet 16" rims and now looking for new tires i was wondering what was the biggest size one could fit under a stock hight 83 toy. the guy a les schwab said he was able to clear 33s but he had to cut the front valance and up the fender. thats one thing i dont really want to do, so i was thinking going with 265/75/16 ,should be about 32 i think, but im not sure if its gonna rub or not. anyone have any expirence with 32ish tires on a stock hight first gen truck. :dunno:

i have been running 32x11.5 on a 15" rim o my 84 runner at stock hieght for a while i did have to takoff the front mud flaps and hammer back the aft lower fender alittle but it only rubbed when my suspention flexed i would imagin you would be aight as long asn your not trying to flex alot

I rub 31's every now and then, but I run trails that most think you need a 4" lift and a 'min' of 33's and lockers. I never rub on the road or while doing normal 4x4ing. I would think that 32's would be alright as long as you don't mind some rubbing while off road. Now keep in mind 4.10 gearing and 32's=less MPG and power, as well as a faster low range/longer roll.

I got a 89 with a nice 16inch rim with 285/75/16. they dont rub at all. not even 4 wheeling the on thing i did was cut 2 inches off the bottom of the inner fender. it is only plastic. though your biggest prob is going to be your backspacing ie. how far the rim stickes out. my rims and tires sit totally flush with the fenders. the rims were off and 88chevy. here take a peek

my truck back home was an 84 and i was rubing with 31s. thats y im questioning. im not sure if its the same with the firt gen because it seems to me they have bigger fender wells. but then again i did have 2wd fenders on it that were only cut an inch or so. anyway thanks for your input always helps alot
