I picked up an 88 runner (22re)which runs like a dream (way better than my 80 P/U)

the question is: untill I get the tic tac dough for a solid axle I was thinking of cranking the torsion bars up on the front.. (got extra coils and air bags in the rear)

Is this feasible? How high can I go with it....was hoping to put 33's under it....a guy told me some came factory with 31's so with it up a bit....

Any one???

Thanks Guys

Im in the same boat. I too just bought an 88' 4Runner and I thought the factory tires are equivilant to a 28" tall tire. I have a 3" block to lift the back up about 2" from the stock and cure the Saggin Waggon and I was told that cranking up the T-bars will only give you about 1.5"-2" total lift.

I have been hinted that if I want to clear 33's easily that I need to do the T-bars, 3" blocks, and a 2" body lift. That should clear 33's no problem and not rub. Also FYI, if you go with 33's you might want to re-gear the Diffs to 4.56's. Its easier to turn then tires, and depending if you have the V6 and auto, or 22RE and 5-speed or a combination of either.

What part of Utah are you in, maybe we could get together and help do the lifts and such.

Cranking the torsion bars all the way up + 2 inch Rear Blocks = 33 x 12.5s no scrubbing. my dad has a 87 and has ran 33s on it forever. but the ride is rough.

You can crank the t-bars to get a little lift, but you will have a much stiffer ride and you will loose wheel travel in the opposite direction (you can't get something for nothing).

You'd be better off using some 1-2" ball joint spacers.

Where do you get these spacers? What do they usually cost?

well I don't wanna spend any tic tac dough (or very little) so I'll just run my 31's on it till I can afford the solid axle swap....I gotta 80 Yota P/U with 10in lift and 36's on her so this will have ta scratch the itch for now....the problem is it's only a 2 seater :bluecryin
