My 82 pickup has terrible floors along the bottom of the door from the front of the seat up. I looked at and photographed a lot of winston cup car floors but wanted to know if anybody has ever done something like this. I dont wanna be sitting on my catalytic converter oneday thanks. :help:

not quite sure what you mean by winston cup floors. if you are talking about using sheet metal to patch/replace large sections of floor then yes it can be done. i've done it on a waggoneer and a couple of vans. gavanized sheet metal is a pain to weld and creates toxic yellow smoke but it is easy to come by. work outside w/ a big fan giving you fresh air. the biggest problems are is the structure of the floor gone to? the reinforcing ribs are harder to rebuild. you will likely have some "oil canning" when you drive. i used heavy tack welds acouple inces apart and caulked the seams with urethane caulk. it may be better to use plug welds to help with stress cracking. as far as oil canning the exhaust was so loud that the floor wasn't that noticable.

of course there is always a cab swap but that's alot more work.
