I have an 88 runner all stock. It does well on the trail but I Have a hard time pulling my boat at freeway speeds with the 3.0. I am debating a SAS and new gears to help it out. Or I am thinking about buying an older chevy with solid axles and swapping out the motor trans and axles to make it a better tow vehicle and still be able to use it as a daily driver and week end warrior on the trails. any insight would be great.

This is just my opinion but, i would get a fullsize chevy to pull your boat around and do the SAS to your runner and use it for trails/DD duty. I realize an all in one package is very desirable but theres nothing wrong with having more than one rig. Also think, if your runner ever breaks down on you, you can still get to work the next day in the chev. Or maybe you'll get a flatbed trailer and tow your runner to your favorite trails. Having a fullsize pickup around is a good thing. Only problem is you'll get calls from your friends all the time asking for help moving stuff...
