I was curious if anyone has had the same problem as me... I own a 86 toyota pickup w/ 22r. The problem is when I press the clutch pedal in it sticks and I have to put me foot behind it to pull it back to position.... When I do this the clutch doesn't engage either. I've been told its master or slave cylinder but wanted to get some expert advise here before I got buy one. Ty for your time.

I'd stick my head under the dash and make sure the clutch pedal return spring was good first.
Then I'd have someone work the clutch pedal while I looked at the slave cylinder. That should help narrow it down.

double check at the slave cylinder that the actuator rod between the slave and clutch fork didn't fall out of it's pocket or disappear altogether.
also you may have sucked air if your master resevoir fluid got low. then you will need to bleed the clutch system similar to bleeding brakes. the real question is how did the fluid get low? leak in the master, slave, or line? in my case the master lid got knocked off and the fluid splashed out provoking clutchless syncro shifting :bluecryin
if the fluid level is ok and no sign of leaks then i would tend to question the master cylinder. when you bleed the system if there is no motion or pressure at the slave then the fluid is not being pushed at the master and i would replace it.

It was a leak in the master for future reference.

Hats off to you for finding the problem and then taking the time to post it and the fix action.
I hate it when someone ask a question, gets several answers, and doesn't say what the final solution was. Besides the fact that I think we owe some thanks to the complete stranger that took time out of his day to try an help someone it also makes the search feature suck with a bunch of open threads.
