Just got the catalog from downey, I plan on doin the 4.3L v-6 swap into my 89 p/u, 5spd with 22re. I'm keeping my w56 trans. check my shopping list to make sure I have everything needed or if something is not needed please chime in.
Downey Conversion kit (motor mounts)
S-10 oil pan...?
67-69 Camero fly wheel...?
10.5" clutch set w/ T.O. bearing
Power steering fitting & hose kit
Slave cylider...? shortened push rod...?
Transfer case adapter...?
Oil pressure adapter
Temp sensor adapter

The truck is currently stock, The chevy v-6 will be carburated. What happens to all the wires from the stock harness that will no longer have a place to go on the new motor?
Thanks

1. Look at Advance Adapters (www.advanceadapters.com) before buying.

2. Think about a 700R4 or even TH350 auto.

3. Wiring in the carbed engine may be simple, they usually don't use much in the way of an ECM. Just leave unused connections alone.
(At least that's how it went when I swapped in my Buick 3.8 V6.)

Thanks for the link, they have competitive pricing. I really want to keep the swap as simple as possible...meaning i don't want to swap out the stock trans. I was just worried that leaving the connectors unplugged would result in a check engine light

It will but you can just unplug the ecu.

It will but you can just unplug the ecu.

But then the gauges in the dash probably won't work right?
Maybe I could put resistors in the connectors to simulate their action?
