Im looking at shocks for a chevy spring swap. When looking at shocks at summit. They dont state how much travel the shock has, the just state the amount of lift you are looking for. The biggest procomp es9000 shock on there says its for a chevy with an 8 to 10 inch lift. Would those be the 14 inch travel ones? Could you guys give me a site where i could purchase shocks with the travel i need? Its the same way when I search Bilsteins and Rancho shocks at summit too.

Choose your shocks according how much suspension travel you actually have and by how you want to mount them, not by a catalog.

FWIW mine are 9912's or something like that.

will this setup even be legal for the road?

I bought 14 in procomps through Orielly's, 12's would work better.

Nothing illegal about swapping in longer springs.

Why wouldn't it ?

And how would anyone know you have different springs ?

Bilstiens are great but look in to FOX before you buy, if you have the money.

The only ones that whould know whould be someone like us. Now a SAS is a bit easier to spot but you still have to be a car guy or gal.

I just looked at the site and once again let me say, IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY$$$$$$$$ because they arn't cheap. Oh and if you have them be mindfull of where you leave your rig when your around groups that know anything about wheeling. i.e. don't leave a rig with Fox shocks on it over night on a trail where others can get to it and have time and space to work on it. Sad but all my bro's with them are very wary of the fact that someone might be eyeballing parts of there truck that are only bolted on.

well. i was planning on using a double shackle setup like described in the following pirate 4x4 thread. They say you can keep the rear spring mount if you attach the stock chevy shackle to the stock toyota one. Only as long as you relocate the front hanger something like 10 inches forward. I was just wondering if this double shackle set up would be inspectable.

I say get Bilsteins. Cheaper than Fox, King, Swayaway, Radflo etc... but still a great shock for what you need. I used to have some 14" Bilstein 7100's they were great. My king coilovers cost me $1300 and the Bilsteins about 300. About people trying to steal your shocks here is what I do: tack weld the nut to the bolt.

Double shackles are great if you only wheel RTI ramps.

yeah ive read that you can get alot of wheel hop and the possibility of driveline vibration if going with the double shackle. But than again I think a 9 inch long shackle looks friggin rediculous and will hang up on everything.

They have a tendency to unload at the most inopportune times, which can lead to some bad results.

A 9" shackle not only looks ridiculous, it is.
I use an aftermarket Chevy shackle meant for lowering the truck 2", in my application it lifts 2" (Chevy's run inverted shackles).

Google 'chevy lowering shackles'. I'll try to post some pics of the ones i've used. There's several types.
