i am getting ready to begin the 7mge swap into my 85 pickup. i have all the following components ready in my garage:
-engine
-wire harness
-ecu
-belt drive accesories
-a/c
-6 speed tranny (for the bell housing)
-clutch, flywheel and clutch fork, possible the slave cylinder too
i need to get my hands on some 5mge motor side motor mount brackets.....??
from everything that i have been reading this swap sounds to be pretty straight forward and somewhat, "easy." we will see though. i am going to try and keep a log on here with pics and notes about this, this will be my 3rd or fouth engine swap, first time with a toyota motor though.
any pointers would, of course be greatly appreciated. thanks...

Go to Horsepower Freaks or MVP for any performance parts. let us know how the swap goes.

go to www.supramania.com and visit the vendor's section. :) there's lots of stuff over there. you'll also learn most anything you need to know there. it's an excellent site.

HEY!!! does any one happen to have some good pictures of the engine bay of a 1991 or so N/A supra? The engine i got is somewhat taken apart, all the "little" things at least. if i could get a pic that would be fantastic!

here is the factory service manual for all supras on the web.

7mge would be an mkiii supra
I have had 5 different supras, and a cressida, the 7mge is a good solid motor, the turbos are faster but not nearly as torque, 5mge are also solid and tough to break.

care to elaborate on that? especially since a 7mge makes 200hp and 185ft lbs of torque, and a 7mgte makes 230hp and 254ft lbs of torque?
that statement makes no sense. when i swapped my supra, stock for stock the GTE is a powerhouse compared to the GE, and that's mostly torque that's the difference...

rpm on turbos makes torque, a 7mge with a good set of cams will give more torque on the bottom that a gte can, the 5mge is a cat and dog race with a 22r. I just got the 7mgte 3 weeks ago and sold my 84 5mge, i really depends on your driving style also, with a truck I ease into things a little more as getting happy on the skinny pedal makes things go crunch, the stock turbo does make more torque but look at the rpm vs torque those numbers are peak hp and peak torque not usable
