If you are looking for a cheaper option you can get an early (81-84) 22R short block and put the 20R head on it. The 20R head on a 22R Block will instantly give it higher compression than a 22R or 20R. The 20R head is a good head for the early 22R's.

Yeah, what he said. I have a 22R/20R motor with weber, nice intake, headers, MSD ingition, etc... and I can outrun my buddies with 22REs and the 3.0Ls. However, when out wheeling i wish i had fuel injection (something to think about).
But probably the best reason to stick with a 22R block is so everything else will match up. I dont know how involved with a motor swap you want to get but having everything bolt back together easily is very nice. If you go with a V6 your going to have to mess with motor mounts, get a different transmission, maybe a new radiator, a lot of wiring to do, etc...
Basically, while your friends are out wheeling your still going to be wrenching away in your garage...

i found a 2rz kinda local for $450 with harness and computer. i think i'm goin to go that route shouldn't take more than a month to swap if i wait til i have everything i need. and while my 80 is down i'll just wheel my full bodied truck
